Stuttgarter Nachrichten
With "Unica", a performance based on motifs apparent in the life and work of Unica Zürn, dramaturge Marty Huber and choreographer Fabian Chyle question the myth of the notion of the "free individual". Unica Zürn's biography and work show a unique perspective on certain essential questions, such as: bound to ideals imposed from the outside world of how a "woman" / "artist" is supposed to live, Unica fails to live up to these expectations and, in the end takes her life. The time in between holds a wealth of creative artistic energy, but was also frequently spent in psychiatric institutions.
'Unica' is an installation with different rooms in which the audience experiences different aspects of the fragmentedness of Unica Zürn. The installation is an entire universe organized à la Unica Zürn: one which is full of rules, desires and fears. 'Unica' incorporates elements of dance, theater and visual arts and creates a sensual/sensorial evening gives a place space to the lack of the usability of love.
